Pace Group Run Saturday June 2

Hey

As we look forward to the Summer session we need to say a couple of BIG THANK YOU’S!! First, to Jeri for keeping things going for us over the Winter/Spring session, she did an Great Job with the group mails, laying out the routes and keeping things running smoothly Thanks Jeri. Next, we are sorry to say that Ray Madden is stepping down as group leader starting this session, it is hard to put into words what Ray has meant to our group over the last 6 years. He has raised most of us from “pups” to be the runners we are and is responsible for so much of the great chemistry of this group and is why we have so much fun together. The good news he will still be running with us and will still be a part of what he has helped put together and we look forward to running many more miles with him…. Thanks Ray!

It’s hard to believe we are getting ready to start the summer session already!! This is a great time of year because we will get to reconnect with many returning veterans and get re motivated with new goals for fall races. Along with all this enthusiasm we are excited to announce that Krystal Sutton will a new group leader this session and will be helping Jeri and I out with group leader responsibilities we are looking forward to having her as part of the team.
Mixed in with all the excitement that comes from reconnecting friends and making new ones comes the responsibility of breaking new runners in. So please as you are taking time to introduce yourselves around, welcoming back old friends and making the newbies feel welcome, please be sure you are helping keep everyone safe. So please help the group leaders to keep the group running single file against traffic and moving smoothly through the water stops and oh yes try to keep the noise down
J.
Most of you will remember that this time of year the mileage is all over the place, especially for the first few months, some of it will be very short for most of you, so bear with us as the routes will reflect this. Also for the whole month of June the ‘”official” start will be 6:00, this is so all the newbies can get set with their pace groups, so if you need longer mileage or need to get done earlier please feel free to start earlier and meet up with us for the official start but don’t forget to use the sign in sheets! One last housekeeping item, please be keep an eye open for any runner you see that may be struggling and let one of the group leaders know so we can check them out.

ODDS N ENDS:
Please be sure you have signed up for this coming session of MarathonFest, we can only keep you on the Group Mail list for so long before we will have drop you from the mailings. We plan to start the our group site up next week so as you know what race you are running this fall let us know so I can put you on one of the Marathon Counters.

Jeri will be leading a 25 -30 mile bike ride this Sunday from Cady Way @ 7:00 if you are interested...be there!

It will be very crowded Saturday and I am sure many of you have plans for an earlier start anyhow, however for those who plan to run the routes in the mail be sure to get there early!!!
